What is groupware

A groupware solution helps a group of people plan their appointments, communicate with one another or customers and keep their contacts organised as a shared activity. Each person in the group receives a personal user account with which s/he can manage their email, contacts and appointments. Anyone in the group can also be given read access to the calendar, mailbox and address books owned by another user; owners can even grant write access if needed. Group users can also invite each other to their appointments.

Long since an essential part of business IT, groupware solutions are now an increasingly interesting option for clubs, project teams and personal use. Friends and family can also find groupware to be very useful when organising shared interests and activities.

The groupware solution we offer is based on SOGo. We've put together four separate groupware packages for you, aimed at covering your individual requirements. These various packages can be booked directly from the netcup (CCP).

Benefits of netcup groupware

Compared to using the standard email inbox, groupware offers the following advantages:

  • Platform-independent: When it comes to usability, our SOGo-based groupware is very versatile: it provides a browser-based interface and also supports a wide range of protocols (IMAP, IMAPS, SMTP, SMTPS, CalDAV and CardDAV), meaning the groupware solution can be integrated with any number of PCs, smartphones, mobile phones and tablets.
  • Shared mailboxes: If required, email inboxes can be shared by a group of users.
  • Shared calendar: Shared-use calendars can be set up for a group of users and individuals can share their personal calendar with other users via a custom access rule or ACL (access control list).
  • Shared contacts: Contacts can be saved to multiple address books, which can then be shared among groups of users. Here, too, access can be provided via personal access rules (ACLs).
  • Data security: All data is saved to redundant storage components. Physical data loss is therefore virtually impossible.
